On January 29, 2000, the Animal Dental Training Center (ADTC) opened its doors. In so doing, it fulfilled one of Dr. Ira R. Luskin's professional missions, to create a permanent learning environment which would foster dental education for veterinarians and technicians. Dr. Luskin, of the Chesapeake Veterinary Referral Center of Annapolis and the Animal Dental Center of Baltimore, created the facility in Baltimore, to offer continuing education in dentistry and oral surgery.
Since its inception, the ADTC has offered many weekend, multi-ability level courses in dental radiology, oral pathology, oral surgery, restorations, and endodontics for general practitioners, technicians, and practitioners with a special interest in dentistry.
Starting in December of 2001, the Center began offering advanced Master level courses for individuals who have proficiency in dentistry. In addition to its regular schedule of courses, the ADTC has hosted the ACVS's Arlington VA's wet lab in dentistry and provides yearly mock preparatory examinations to help candidates prepare for taking the dental specialty boards.
